John L. Blumenstock, 74, of Marion, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 3:30 pm at his home.
John was born December 8, 1942 in Marion the son of Walter and Esther (Krumerey) Blumenstock. He married Judith K. Newman on October 21, 1967 at Marion 1st Baptist Church and Saturday, October 21st would have been their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
He was a veteran, proudly answering the call to serve his country in the Army. He retired from Console Coal Company after 30 years. John was a member of Third Baptist Church of Marion and he was a shriner.
John liked to keep busy and his favorite place to be was outside. He enjoyed working in his garden, doing yardwork and mechanical work. He had working man hands that were strong and callused. He was a hard-working man who labored diligently to support his family.
Most important to him was his family. He enjoyed spending time with his children and his grandchildren.

Son – Brad Blumenstock and wife Lori of Arlington, Tennessee
Three grandchildren;

Ava and Grant Blumenstock of Arlington, Tennessee

Kenneth Blumenstock and wife Debra of Marion
Lawrence Blumenstock and wife Jo Carol of Marion
Gail Blumenstock and wife Darlene of Marion
Eugene Blumenstock and wife Jeanette of Marion
Sister – Joyce Hall of West Frankfort
Mother-in-law – Mary Newman of Marion
Several nieces and nephews
Proceeded by his Parents, Brother – Ernie Blumenstock and Father-in-law – Perry Newman.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 23, 2017 at 12 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Askew officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by members of the Marion VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Flag Detail Unit. Visitation will be Monday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
