John A. Jack Shotton, 86, died Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 12:15 A.M. at his residence. Jack was born September 15, 1917 to Thomas and Emily (Fryer) Shotton in Marion. He married Margaret Odum on November 19, 1939 in Charleston, Missouri and she survives in Marion. Jack was a retired coal miner, a member of UMWA and the 1st United Methodist Church. Jack was known for his kind and generous spirit. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will always be remembered by the love he passed on to his family. Survivors include: Two (2) Sons; John A. Shotton, Jr. and wife Nina of Pinckneyville Jim Shotton and wife Marsha of Marion One (1) Daughter; Kay Atwood and husband David of Marion Five (5) Grandchildren Stephanie McDaniel Melanie Pecord Craig Shotton Brad Shotton Kim Homann Twelve (12) Great Grandchildren Jeremiah McDaniel Aaron McDaniel Chelsea Pecord Taylor Pecord Brennan Pecord Jordan Shotton Courtney Shotton Shelby Shotton Logan Shotton Zachary Shotton Jared Shotton Nathan Shotton Megan Homann Myles Homann Two (2) Sisters; Norene Litton of Marion Susie Hudgens of Marion Preceded by: Parents, One Sister- Amy Black, Three Brothers Henry Shotton, Edmond Shotton and Howard Shotton Funeral services will be Friday, February 27, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Victor Long officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorials may be given to the 1st United Methodist Memorial Fund or the Lake of Egypt Fire District.
