John A. Jack Shotton, 86, died Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 12:15 A.M. at his residence.
Jack was born September 15, 1917 to Thomas and Emily (Fryer) Shotton in Marion. He married Margaret Odum on November 19, 1939 in Charleston, Missouri and she survives in Marion.
Jack was a retired coal miner, a member of UMWA and the 1st United Methodist Church. Jack was known for his kind and generous spirit. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will always be remembered by the love he passed on to his family.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 27, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Victor Long officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
For those who prefer, memorials may be given to the 1st United Methodist Memorial Fund or the Lake of Egypt Fire District.
