Freeman Spur-Joseph Frank . "Big Joe" Restivo, 75, died 7:07 A.M., Sunday, July 29, 2001 at the Veterans Affairs Nursing Home in Marion. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Harold "Butch" McClure officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Herrin American Legion & VFW Post. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. Mr. Restivo was born March 24, 1926 in Freeman Spur to Jack & Marietta (Lamatina) Restivo. He married Veneta Ruth Baker on March 18, 1950 in Herrin. She preceded him in death on December 20, 1988. Mr. Restivo retired from Norge where he was a security guard. He also worked as a bricklayer. He was a member of American Legion in Herrin and the Marion VFW. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country during WW II. He was a 1944 graduate of Herrin High School. Mr. Restivo is survived by: Eight Sons: Jack Restivo & wife Melinda of Kansas City, MO. John Restivo & wife Vera of Zeigler Paul Restivo & wife Angela of Marion Romie Restivo & wife Kelly of Energy Carl Restivo & wife Ivah of Virginia Beach, VA. Rocky Restivo & wife Vicki of Royalton Marty Restivo & wife Dana of Freeman Spur Joe B. Restivo & wife Lesley of Freeman Spur 14 Grandchildren 8 Great Grandchildren Two Sisters: Mary "Chetta" Coloni of Herrin Josephine Restivo of Sesser Special Friend: Wanda Benton of Johnston City Preceded in death by his parents and his wife Ruth. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to San Carlo Cemetery Association, or to the Herrin Tiger Booster Club, C/O Hall of Fame Committee and will be accepted at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home.
