Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home Full Obit with flag Herrin- JOSEPH GENE JOE NOVAK, JR., age 62, of Herrin, passed away at 12:10am, on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Herrin Hospital. Joseph was born in Chicago on February 6, 1946, the son of Joseph and Lola (Flood) Novak. He was a retired electrician. Joe was a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion and the Herrin VFW. Survivors include his two sons- Robert Bob Novak of Belvedere, IL and Dan Novak of Rockford, IL; one daughter- Amie (Novak) Shae of Schaumburg, IL; four grandchildren- Joey, Cody, and Kyle Novak of Belvedere, IL and Katie Shae of Schaumburg, IL; and one brother- Jim Novak of Homer Glen, IL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with the Rev. Terry Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery with military honors performed by Herrins American Legion and VFW Posts. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
