Joseph M. Armstrong

Herrin- JOSEPH MARVIN ARMSTRONG, age 81, of Herrin, passed away at 7:45am on Monday, November 19, 2012 at Metropolis Nursing and Rehab Center. Joseph was born in Taylorville on November 1, 1931, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Bryles) Armstrong. He married Mildred Clements in Taylorville on November 24, 1963. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2005. Mr. Armstrong was a member of the Herrin First Presbyterian Church. He was a coal miner, retiring from Freeman United #4. Joe was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Survivors include his son- Mike and Tricia Armstrong of Paducah, KY Daughter- Tammy and Tom Clawson of Moberly, MO Granddaughter- Katelynn Armstrong of Paducah, KY Grandson- Jason Armstrong of Paducah, KY Brother- Jack Armstrong of Taylorville, IL Brother-In-Law- Donald and Joyce Clements of Morrisonville, IL Sister-in-law- Marie and Ronald Whitlow of Taylorville, IL Sister-in-law- Donna Neal of Springfield, IL Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sister and brother-in-law- Betty and Chester Brown, and brother-in-law- Ed Neal. Visitation will be held from 9-10am on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Michael Neubert officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville at 3:00pm on Friday, November 23, 2012 with Rev. Russell Beard officiating.
