Herrin-Joseph Paul (Joe) Childers, 90, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at home following a brief illness.
The son of the late Monroe & Mattie Crain Childers, Joe was born on December 3, 1914 in Herrin, IL. He was the beloved husband of Velma Johnson Childers, whom he married on July 6, 1966 in Herrin. Following service in the Army during WW II, which he was a Veteran, Joe went to work for Norge, and retired after 39 years.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Harlow officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Herrin American Legion & VFW Posts.
Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
