Herrin- Josephine C. Miriani, 86, of Herrin passed away at 11:35 PM, Monday, April 1, 2002 at Herrin Hospital.
Josephine was born on September 13, 1915 in Herrin to Joe & Lena (Grassi) Miriani.
Josephine was a graduate of St. Louis Business School and worked at Ramada Inn of Carbondale as an executive secretary for some 15 years prior to her retirement. Before that she was employed at Norge Co. in Herrin for twenty years.
Miss Miriani was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin and the Newman Center in Carbondale. She was an active member of the Herrin Hospital Auxiliary, the Herrin Senior Citizens, and AARP. When she was able, Jo enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed going to Europe (three times), most recently Italy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister & bro in law; Mary & Mario (Moochie) Chiodini, one brother; William J. Miriani, and one niece; Kris Tolson.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 5, 2002 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM- 9:00 PM, Thursday, April 4, 2002 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. The rosary will be recited at 7:15 p. m., Thursday at the funeral home.
