Josephine Pulley

Marion Josephine (Jo) H. Pulley, 92, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 6:35 A.M. in the Bedford County Nursing Home in Bedford, Virginia. Ruth Josephine Harris was born May 11, 1915 the daughter of David H. & Ruth (Herrin) Harris in Creal Springs. She married Robert Lee Pulley on July 6, 1941 in Marion and together they shared almost 41 years of marriage until his death on June 14, 1982. Josephine was a lifetime member of the 1st Baptist Church of Marion, served as Director of the Senior Adult Ministry for many years, and was a member of the JOY Singers. Jo retired from the Community Savings & Loan; had also worked at WGGH, Cline-Vick Drug Store, Bank of Marion and CIPS. She also earned a teaching certificate from SIU and was a member of the Marion Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Marion Womens Club, and Friends of the Library. Josephine is survived by her daughter Barbara Jo Aud of Bedford, VA, son, John R. Pulley and wife Delene of Decatur, IL, son Richard H. Pulley of San Rafael, CA; two Grandsons, Bryan and Brandon Aud, three Granddaughters, Rebecca Aud, Alicia Pulley Boyce, Erica Ramsey Pulley, and one Step-Granddaughter, Lori Polley. She also had seven Great Grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband Robert Lee, Infant son Stephen, Infant twin sons, Sister Janice Harris, Brothers John, Dick, Paul, Frank, and Phillip Harris. A memorial service celebrating Jos life will be held at the 1st Baptist Church in Marion on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 11 am. A graveside service will take place immediately following the memorial service as it was Mrs. Pulley wish to be cremated and buried next to her husband in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Marion or Charity of choice. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
