Joshua Michael Ganahl

Joshua Michael Ganahl, age 42, of Herrin, Illinois,  passed away peacefully in his mother's arms at 6:30pm on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at his home in Herrin, Illinois.  

Joshua was born February 04, 1980 in Moline, Illinois, a son of Timothy and Linda Rae (Miller) Ganahl. 

He is survived by his mother, Linda Rae (Miller) Ganahl; one sister, Karisa (Noah) Norris; his nephew, Austin Norris; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

He is preceded in death by his father-Timothy John Ganahl; his Grandparents- Raymond (Sharon) Miller, Lillian Hammonds, and Willis (Myrle) Ganahl, and his very special Sunday School teachers Howard (Millie) Mason.

Josh attended and graduated from Black Hawk Area Education Center in Moline, where he was proudly crowned Homecoming King in 2001. He had previously attended Our Directions in Herrin. Josh attended The Word Church in Marion where he played the tambourines in the worship service. At home, he loved to listen to children's songs. He would play his moroccas, keeping in time to the music. He previously competed in the Special Olympics, where he won several medals.  

Memorial services to celebrate Josh's life, will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at The Word Church located at 1302 East Boulevard Street in Marion. Pastor David Gilley will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
