Joshua Miles Barrett

Marion-Joshua Miles Barrett, 18, died 7:10 A.M., Saturday, October 11, 2003 at his residence. Joshua was born December 18, 1984 in St. Louis, Missouri to Miles & Kim (Knopf) Barrett. Joshua was a 2003 graduate of Marion High School, where he was a Journalism Student & Editor for Marion High School paper. He loved to write poetry and had completed his first book. His writings will live on forever. Joshua strength, courage, dignity & sense of humor through his brief battle with a brain tumor gave strength to us all. He attended the Marion Church of Christ. Survivors include: His parents: Miles & Kim Barrett of Marion Two Brothers: Matthew Barrett of Iowa Eric Barrett of Marion Sister & Brother in Law: Melanie & Mark Nolker of St. Louis. Maternal Grandmother: Ellayne Knopf of Marion Maternal Grandfather & Step Grandmother: Herbert & Mary Knopf of Little Rock, Arkansas. Three Aunts: Kathy & Rick Bliss of Plano, TX. Karen & Dr. David Ijams of Cordova, TN. Barbara & George Southern of Carthage, MO. Two Uncles: Allen Barrett of OK. David Barrett of Lee Summitt, MO. Preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ila Howard. Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Gerald Cowan officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:30 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
