Herrin- Josephine Mary Louise Josie Lattuada, 91, of Herrin, passed away at 10:25 PM, Friday, March 12, 2004 at Herrin Hospital with her family by her side.
Josie was born on September 11, 1912 in Freeman Spur to Louis & Josephine (Bandera) Pessina. She married Louis H. Lattuada; Sr. on September 2, 1936 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Herrin. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1965.
Mrs. Lattuada retired as under presser from Smoller Brothers in Herrin. She was also a homemaker. Josie was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and a Charter member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union #499.
When she was able, Josie enjoyed gardening; especially flowers and vegetables, knitting and crocheting (she made each of the grandkids house slippers), and cooking (perhaps the best fried chicken around). At family gatherings, Josie would join in friendly games of Wiffle Ball and Bottle Caps. She enjoyed Big Band Music and felt like a teenage girl again when her granddaughter took her for a ride in her new red convertible. Her life was centered on her family and she dearly loved her grandkids. She will be missed.
