Joyce A. Davie

July 24, 1939 — March 15, 2013

Herrin- Joyce A. Davie, age 73, of Herrin, passed away at 5:51pm on Friday, March 15, 2013 at her home in Herrin.  Joyce was born in West Frankfort on July 24, 1939, the daughter of Leslie “Hess” Watkins and Vivian “Billie” (Welch) Watkins.  She married Dennis E. Davie on April 15, 1967 in Carterville.  He preceded her in death in July 27, 2008.  Mrs. Davie was a member of the First Christian Church in Plumfield.  She retired from Maytag after twenty eight years of service.  Joyce was a member of the IAM Machinist Union, the Eagles Auxiliary #2569 of Carbondale, and the Women’s Bass Club- Lunker Ladies of America.  She loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. Joyce could never say no to a BINGO excursion or a trip to the casino.   Survivors include her daughter & son in law- Gina & Rick Raney of Murphysboro Sister- Eudora “Nadine” and Charles “Blu” Raynor of Virginia Sister- Lillian Ferketich of West Frankfort Sister- Lawana and Joe Lockard of Carbondale Grand dog- “Abbie” Several Nieces, Nephews & Cousins Many Close Friends  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother- Charles Watkins.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. George Kao and staff for all their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.  The funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, March 18, 2013 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until time of services on Monday evening at the funeral home. She and her husband will be inurned at a later date at BlairsvilleCemetery.
