Joyce Hope, 62, of Marion, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 3:50 am at her home surrounded by her family.
Joyce was born August 23, 1955 in Marion the daughter of James B. and Ruby (Maynard) Hope.
Starting her career at Zwicks Shoes on the Marion square, Joyce worked her way up to managing the store in Mt. Vernon. Joyce became a model and eventually preferred being behind the camera, owning a photography business for 20 years. She came to sell ads for both Withers and River Radio becoming particularly known for her expertise in event planning for clients all over southern Illinois. Additionally, she was an instrumental member of Paradise Alley Players for over 30 years, acting as actor, stage manager, director, and board president. Joyce and her partner of nearly 20 years, David, ventured through 7 Caribbean islands, eventually finding their true home together. Whatever Joyce put her mind to, she accomplished, and the proof is seen all throughout the region. One might say that Joyce truly is southern Illinois.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 11 am at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral home with Rev. Steve Utley officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
