Joyce P. Smith

Marion Joyce P. Smith, 79, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 5:10 P.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Joyce was born April 23, 1932 in Chicago the daughter of Frank and Lilly (Wind) Corrigan. She married Robert Norman Smith on October 30, 1948 in Chicago and together they shared 57 years of marriage. She was a member of the Marion Second Baptist Church. Joyce retired from Marion Unit #2, where she was the head cook at the high school. Survivors include; Son Robert W. Smith of Dallas, Texas Daughter Kathleen Shannon of Marion Daughter-in-law Georgene Smith of Marion Six Grandchildren Nine Great Grandchildren Sister Joan Sullivan of Elk Grove Village Sister Mary Ann Lewis of Wisconsin Sister-in-law Margaret Wiseman of Phoenix, Arizona Brother-in-law Don Smith of Bland, Missouri Preceded by her Parents and Husband Robert Smith and her Son Bruce Smith in 1998. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 11 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
