Herrin- Judith A. Haney, 64, of Herrin, passed away at 10:00 PM, Friday, September 29, 2006 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
Judith was born on November 12, 1941 in Herrin to John & Marjorie (Graham) Anderson. She married Thomas W. Haney on June 7, 1962 at the Church of St. Michael in Chicago. He survives of Herrin. Mrs. Haney attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and was a substitute teacher at Herrin Unit # 4 Schools. She enjoyed writing and presenting book and movie reviews for various local newspapers and civic organizations.
Mrs. Haney was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and local civic organizations. She served as Past President of the Herrin Womens Club and the Herrin Library Board. She was Co-founder and past president of a Herrin Unit #4 PTO Association. Judith was active within the Republican Party and served as an election judge in Herrin. She was a member of MUFON.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son; Thomas W. Haney, II.
The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Herrin. An hour of gathering will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service, Tuesday at the church. The Haney family respectfully requests your prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
