Julia Ann Davis

Herrin- JULIA ANN (MARKUS) DAVIS, age 85, of Herrin, passed away at 2:25pm on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 in Herrin Hospital. Julia was born February 14, 1922 in Dowell, Illinois to the late Charles W. Markus Sr. and Anna (McCloskey) Markus. She married James Carroll J.C. Davis on August 15, 1944 in Carterville, IL. They shared 61 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2006. Julia was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She went out of her way to provide and care for her family. She was a lifetime member of the Holy Protection of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Catholic Church in Royalton, Illinois. Julia was baptized into that church on February 26, 1922. Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law; Cheryl and Ron Kiehna of Chatham, Illinois and Tina and Jim Simpson of Herrin, Illinois. Four grandchildren, James Carroll Jamie Stratton of Herrin, Mia Shaeleen and Mark Fandel of Chatham, Lesleigh Ann and Christopher Bennett of Lincoln, and Mariessa Lorae Simpson and fianc Curt Orso of Herrin; Six great-grandchildren, Morgan, Brayden, and Nolan of Chatham, IL and Peyton, Christian, and Kacey of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J.C., her brother- Charles W. Markus, Jr., and her sisters Cecelia Phend and Marianne Lundeen. Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with Father Tom Succarottie officiating. Burial will follow in the Orthodox Catholic Cemetery in Royalton, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 27, 2007 from 6-8pm at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. There will be a Requiem Patastas service at 7pm on Friday evening at the funeral home.
