June Esther Brown

Herrin- June Esther Brown, 86, of Vandalia, formerly of Herrin, passed away at 3:15 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia. June was born on June 24, 1923 in Elkville to John & Anna (Walters) Romines. She married Kenneth O. Brown on March 31, 1946 in St. Louis, MO. He survives of Vandalia. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker in her own home and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Vandalia and a former member of Herrin First Baptist Church for fifty-six years. Survivors include- Daughter- Janet Potts and husband Gary of Vandalia Daughter- Vicki Newcom and husband Phil of Salem, MO Son- Stan Brown and wife Karen of Wilmington, NC Grandchildren: Tiffany Summann of Vandalia Danielle Newcom of Montrose, CA Jarrod Newcom and wife Kim of Woodland Park, CO Ryan Marks and wife Shelly of Vandalia Megan Brown of Williamsburg, VA Five Great Grandchildren Sister- Doris Watson of Williamsburg, VA She was preceded in death by her parents, ten brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Don Grammer will officiate. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Herrin.
