Herrin- Justin R. Merritt, 17, of Herrin, died tragically at 7:20 PM, Sunday, May 13, 2007 at South Sandusky Beach at Rend Lake. Justin was born on September 13, 1989 in Carbondale to Byron Merritt & Sharon (Whitaker) Owens. Mr. Merritt worked the last five months in production at Hardees in Herrin. Survivors include: Mother- Sharon Owens & fianc Nick Seabaugh of Herrin Father- Byron Merritt & wife Leigh of Jackson, MO Brother- James Coulter, Jr of Herrin Brother- Brandan Merritt of Herrin Brother- Anthony Merritt of Herrin Sister- Amanda Haynes of Cape Girardeau Paternal Grandmother- Nancy Sue Merritt Maternal Grandparents- Ken & Jo Ann Temple Nephew- Adam Haynes Sister in law- Renee Lea Crim Aunts & Uncles: Shawn Merritt Dawn Merritt David Merritt Christine Merritt Scott Temple Phillip Temple Kenny Temple Charles Whitaker Cousins: Brittany Merritt Shawn Patrick Merritt Shane Davis Tiffany Merritt Trenton Merritt He was preceded in death by his cousin- David DJ Merritt. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
