Karen Elaine Sanson, age 71, of Marion, passed away at 8:20pm on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Karen was born in Chicago on July 24, 1950, the daughter of Oscar and Edna (Scherr) Williams. She married Jimmy Lee Sanson in Marion on August 14, 1971. Together, they were blessed with fifty years of marriage.
Mrs. Sanson had attended Cornerstone Church. Karen had worked as a teacher’s assistant for various schools in the Marion School District.

Twin Sons- Shawn (Annie) Sanson of Marion
Shane (Angella) Sanson of Marion
Four Grandchildren- Emma McLasky, Collin and Carsen Chelin, and Jaxin Sanson
Brother- Charlie and Janis Williams of Valier
Sister- Brenda and James Hewlett of Royalton
Brother- Cecil and Lisa Bradley of Marion
Brother-in-law- Ronnie Mabry of Valier
Sister-in-law- Barb Williams of Dekalb
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister- Sharon Mabry, three brothers- Carl, Eddie, and Robert Williams, and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 2:00pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Blumenstock officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.
