Kathy Lynn Howell

January 5, 1951 — July 31, 2015

Johnston City- Kathy Lynn Howell, age 64, of Johnston City, passed away at 1:20 pm on Friday, July 31, 2015 at her home in Johnston City.

Kathy was born in DuQuoin on January 5, 1951, the daughter of James and Peggy (Branum) Mattingly. She married Bobby Howell in Williamson County on July 2, 1975. He survives in Johnston City.

Mrs. Howell had worked as a dietary aide at nursing homes, however, her true passion was in being a mother and wife. She loved her family and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband- Bobby Howell of Johnston City

Daughter- Angela Robison of Herrin

Son- Carl and Lori Howell of Marion

Daughter- Rachel Howell of Carbondale

Grandchildren- Landon Howell of Marion

Lewis and Brandon Anthony of Herrin

Sister- Rebecca and Michael Foster of Herrin

Brother- Steven Mattingly of Dexter, MO

She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew- Doug Mattingly.

The family would like to thank Kathy’s nurse, Brandy, and the staff of Hospice of Southern Illinois for their care and compassion during this difficult journey. Your kindness and guidance is greatly appreciated.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Bruce Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be held from 11-1pm on Tuesday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.

For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home; 201 S. 13th Street; Herrin, IL 62948.
