Marion- After a brief illness, KAY F. PARKS, age 72, of Marion, met her Lord and was reunited with loved ones at 8:45am on Friday, October 22, 2010, surrounded by her family and the gracious staff of the Critical Care Unit of St. Francis Medical Center of Cape Girardeau, MO. Kay was born in Duncansville, PA, on March 21, 1938, the daughter of Chester and Luella Wilt, who preceded her in death. She moved to the Chicago area where she met and married her soul mate, Carl D. Parks on October 6, 1956. In 1973, Kay and Carl relocated to rural Marion/Crab Orchard to raise their children. They cherished forty years together until his passing on March 14, 1997. Kay worked at both Marion hospitals and at the Crab Orchard Wildlife refuge where she retired as accounts receivable/payroll manager. Kay was a faithful and sincere Christian, having taught Sunday school for 45 years. She was a charter member of Tower Square Baptist Church in Marion, and Victory Baptist Church in Carterville. She now realizes her rewards of a life serving her Lord and Savior. Kay is survived by her children- Rick and Terri Parks of Marion, IL Gary D. Parks of Marion, IL Rhonda and Ernie Salazar of Griffith, IN GrandchildrenHillarie and JuJu Arce of Preston, OK Cassie and Josh McKinney of Carrier Mills, IL Kyle and Melissa Parks of Creal Springs, IL Christa Parks of Marion, IL Amanda, Austin, and E.J. Salazar of Griffith, IN Great Grandchildren- Torrance, Sofie, and Garyn Arce of Preston, OK Hunter and Logan Parks of Creal Springs, IL Brothers- David and Sandra Wilt of Lynn Haven, FL Richard Wilt of St. Augustine, FL Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her husband- Carl. Special thanks to her buddie Dr. Jack Keller and his wonderful staff and all the caregivers who assisted during this time. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, October 25, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, with services conducted by Rev. Tim Zuck and Rev. Mike Cash. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
