Kenneth "Kenny" Dale Jarvis

Herrin- Kenneth “Kenny” Dale Jarvis, age 80, of Herrin, passed away at 6:39am on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Herrin Hospital. Kenneth was born in Herrin on July 28, 1935, the son of Leon Dale and Wanda Florine (Mowery) Jarvis. He married Jackie Whittenberg at their home in Herrin on March 5, 1983.  She survives in Herrin. Mr. Jarvis was a member of the Marion First Church of God.  He was also a proud, fifty year member of the Zeigler Masonic Lodge.  Kenny was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending time on his farm, caring for his goats and cats. He was passionate about classical cars, antiquing, and collectables. All those with antique cars are encouraged to drive them to his funeral for one last tribute. Survivors include his wife- Jackie Jarvis of Herrin Daughter- Terry and Bernie Rhodes of Zeigler Son- Michael Jarvis of Zeigler Daughter- Cathy and Michael Motsinger of Marion Daughter- Kelly and Kim Kranawetter of Cape Girardeau, MO Daughter- Amanda and Chester Hale of Marion Daughter- Riann Jarvis of Herrin Numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren Cousin- Tammi Conner of DeSoto Brother-in-law and sister-in-law- Tom and Brenda Whittenberg Previous Spouse- Frieda Gossage Kinkade He was preceded in death by his parents and one son- Richard Stroud. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Pastor Roy Pepmiller officiating.  Masonic Rites will be presented by the Masonic Lodge of Zeigler. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy.  Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 2:00pm at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.  Memorial donations may be made to his daughter, Riann Jarvis, for her education.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home; 201 S. 13th Street; Herrin, IL 62948.  For those who prefer to send a floral arrangement, the family would be just as honored, as yellow flowers were Mr. Jarvis’ favorite and would provide a beautiful remembrance.
