Carterville- KENNETH OREN DOOLEY, 61, of Carterville, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 18, 2005 at 2:49pm. He passed away at St Louis University Hospital. Ken was born May 24, 1943 in Herrin, IL to Edgar and Mildred (Williamson) Dooley. Raised in Herrin, he married Jerrie Lynn McHargue in 1965. On May 20, 1994 he married Luella Williams Avery of Johnston City. She survives in Carterville. Mr. Dooley worked at Allen Industries in Herrin for 14 years. He then worked for his father at the Town Bakery in Herrin. After his fathers passing, he was employed at Sheller Globe. For many years, Ken was a member of Hope Chapel United Methodist Church in Colp. There, he served as Sunday School Superintendent, trustee and member of the choir. He was currently a member and deacon at the Mt Zion Assembly in Johnston City. Anyone who knew Ken, knew of his strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Although Ken had been in poor health for many years, his faith was strong and unwavering even when his physical body was weak. Although we are deeply saddened by the loss of a great man, we are rejoicing and take great comfort in knowing that today he is in Heaven with our Lord and we will be reunited in glory. Survivors include- Devoted Wife- Luella Dooley- Carterville, IL Loving Daughter- Jennifer Dooley- Herrin, IL Brother and sister-in-law- Gary and Myrna Dooley- Herrin, IL Sister and brother-in-law- Cynthia and Lonnie Marckley- Centralia, IL Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law- Clydell and Becky Williams- Johnston City, IL Sister-In-Law and Brother-In-Law- Mildred and Carl Richard- Mt Vernon, IL Stepson and step daughter-in-law- James and Sarah Avery- Coco, FL Step daughter and step son-in-law- Beth and Sean Avery- Rockledge, FL Several Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews Preceded in death by- His parents and his brother, Robert Randall Dooley Funeral services will be Friday April 22, 2005 at 11:00 am at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev Don Colson and Brother Tom Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday April 21, 2005 from 6-9 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
