Marion- Lena Marie Hunter, age 89, of Marion, passed away at 6:04pm on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Parkway Manor in Marion after a long fight with Alzheimers.
Lena Marie, known as Marie to family and friends, was born in Golconda on December 13, 1924, the daughter of James Arlie and Lela Cloe (Robinson) Stephens. She married Lack “L.B.” Hunter in Las Vegas on September 2, 1970. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2006.
Marie was a member of the Third Baptist Church in Marion. She had retired from Bainbridge Jewelry.
Survivors include her three children-
Daughter- Lena and husband Willie Deutsch of Alton, IL
Son- Randall and wife Karen Taylor of Havanna, IL
Son- Charles and wife Lisa Taylor of Tuscon, AZ
Step-Daughter- Vickie Hunter of Marion, IL
She was known lovingly as Grandma or “Bing Bong” to her nine grandchildren-

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Scott Kallem officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.
Marie loved flowers and children and looked forward to spring when she could plant her gardens and nurture her rose bushes into beautiful blooms. She was very proud of and loving to her family and always looked forward to loving and spoiling the children in her family. To honor this love, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, which also specializes in nurturing children.
