Herrin- Louis L.V. Steckenrider, 89, of Herrin, passed away at 7:30
AM, Monday, December 13, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion.
LV was born on August 12, 1915 in Herrin to Lewis & Marie Lela (Felts)
Steckenrider. He married Jewell M. Medlin by proxy on June 22, 1945
while stationed in the Philippines during WWII. He served in the US Army as a Chief Warrant Officer.
Once stateside, L.V. worked as a contract administrator for Olin Corp in the Ordill area until his retirement. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Herrin, serving as elder, trustee, deacon and resident coffeemaker. He was a member of the Herrin Elks, Eagles, a thirty second degree mason at Herrin Prairie Masonic Lodge #693 AF &AM, the Williamson County Shrine Lodge and the Herrin VFW & American Legion Posts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and sisters and
one son in law; Joe Pierson.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church of Herrin. Pastor Michael Neubert will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at graveside by the Herrin American Legion & VFW Posts. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of service, Wednesday at the church. Masonic rites will be performed at 10:30 AM Wednesday at the church by Herrin Prairie Lodge #693 AF & AM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
