Marion Lawrence E. Marks, 90, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 10:15 A.M. at his home in Marion aurrounded by his family. Lawrence was born January 18, 1916 in Williamson County to Oscar and Clara (Reighl) Marks. He married Margaret E. Rex on August 10, 1941 in Benton, Missouri and together they shared over 38 years of marriage until her death on April 27, 1980. Lawrence was a member of Second Baptist Church of Marion. He was the Manager for Northside Wholesale. Dad was a working man and loved his family. He also loved his hobby of woodworking and enjoyed giving away items he had made. Survivors include: Two Sons; Larry Marks and wife Dorothy of Marion Byron Marks and wife Janice of Marion Daughter Marjorie Gordon and husband John of Marion Six Grandchildren; Chris Marks and wife Kathy of Marion Todd Marks and wife Carrie of Marion Lori Jennings and husband Robert of Marion Andrea Palmer and husband Grayson of Marion Maria Gordon of Marion Oscar Gordon of Marion Seven Great Grandchildren; Shandra Spicer Clint Marks Emily Marks Hannah Jennings Bradley Marks Ryan Palmer Austin Palmer One Great Great Grandchild Dustin Walsh Brother William V. Marks and wife June of Marion Sister Lorene Burroughs of St. Ann, MO Several Nieces and Nephews Preceded by Parents, Wife Margaret Funeral services will be Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Danny Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
