Lela Mae Laffoon German

Herrin- Lela Mae Laffoon German, 71, of Herrin, died at 1:00 AM, Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at her home. Lela was born on May 1, 1932 in Plumfield, IL to Fred & Pearl (Nolen) Burbank. She married LeRoy Laffoon on July 16, 1950 in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1979. She married Robert German on May 19, 1983 in Herman. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1991. Mrs. German was retired as housekeeper of Herrin Hospital. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church. SURVIVORS: Son & dau in law- David & Debra Laffoon- Independence, MO Son & dau in law- Michael Tony & Mona Laffoon- Herrin Dau & son in law- Joy & Charles Hopkins- Herrin Dau & son in law- Patricia & Jeff Farmer- Myrtle Beach, SC Step Son- Phillip & Betty Laffoon- Herrin Step Daughter- Shelby & John Kurberski- Sandoval, IL Eleven Grandchildren: Tonya & Kenny Sons- Independence, MO Benny Laffoon- Energy Michael Laffoon- Herrin Shelly & Josh Kennedy- Myrtle Beach, SC Joshua Farmer- Myrtle Beach Aislinn Hopkins- Herrin Siouhan Hopkins- Booton, NJ Pam & Gary Worm- Indianapolis Brian & Terry Reynolds- Sandoval Bruce Reynolds- Steven Point, WI Cheryl Reynolds- Sandoval, IL Eleven Great Grandchildren Two Great Great Grandchildren Sister in law- Ruth Burbank- West Frankfort She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and three brothers; Paul, Elvis & Eldridge Burbank. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 4, 2003 at Herrin City Cemetery. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
