Herrin- Lela Marie Triplett, 82, of Herrin died Friday, February 28, 2003 at Northwest Regional Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX.
Lela was born on January 24, 1921 in Carbondale to Henry & Bertha (McClooney) Bain. She married Eugene Triplett on January 21, 1937 in Marion. He survives of Herrin.
Mrs. Triplett was a homemaker. During WWII Lela worked as a machine operator and then later at Olin-Matheson Corporation. She was a member of Crossroads Tabernacle Church in Bush.
Lela enjoyed fishing with her husband Gene at Lake Mathis and the Gulf of Mexico in Texas. She also enjoyed embroidery, quilting, collecting antique dolls, and going to yard sales and flea markets.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons; Marcus & Timothy Lee Triplett, grandson; Jason Eugene Bradley, two sisters, and one brother.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Sister Naomi Carter will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at the funeral home.
