Lena Fae Sims, age 98, of Marion, died Wednesday, October 31st at 1:10 p.m.
at her home. She was a homemaker. She was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion in Marion. She was a member of the Aldersgate Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 1st from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 2nd at Mitchell-Hughes. Rev. James Slone and Father Richard Mohr will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials for Mrs. Sims may be given to the donors choice.She was born June 23, 1903 in Pittsburg, Illinois to Sherman and Cynthia Paralee (Dougherty) Owens. They preceded her in death. She married Troy E. Sims on January 1, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1984.
Survivors include the following: One son, Wayland D. Sims of Marion; One daughter, Virginia Dunn of Marion; Two grandchildren:
Vicki (& Don) Griffin of West Frankfort and
Kevin (& Susie) Holmes of Marion; Four great-grandchildren:Garland Welch, Samantha Holmes,
Jamie Holmes, Nathan Hosselton; Two great-great grandchildren: Calvin Welch and Kenny Welch; Four nieces:Pauline Howerton, Helen Hudgens, Marguerite Jones, and Lorene Goessman.
She was preceded in death by: One daughter, Dorothy Fehd; One granddaughter, Carolyn Welch; Two brothers, George & Jess Owens;
Four sisters: Elva Stroud,Ada Travelstead,
Eva Wyatt, and Ruby Westbrooks.
