Pittsburg Lena Frye-Slater, 88, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 8:00 A.M. at her daughters home in Port Orange, Florida surrounded by her family.
Lena was born August 3, 1917 in Marion, Illinois to Kenneth Dare and Julia (Crenshaw) Alexander. She married R.L. Frye on December 31, 1934 in Eldorado, Illinois and together they shared over 36 years of marriage until his death on May 5, 1971. She later married Lee Slater on January 19, 1980 in Pittsburg, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1985.
Lena retired from Mark Twain Boats in 1977 where she had worked as a mold builder. She was a member of Pittsburg Freewill Baptist Church for over 50 years. Lena was a member of Marions Eastern Star.

Grandson Mike Garrett and wife Michelle of Royal Oak, Michigan

Great Great Grandson Evan Michael Seidel of Tinley Park, Illinois

Preceded by Parents, Husbands R.L. Frye and Lee Slater, Son Darrel Frye, One Brother, Three Sisters, Step Son Bud Slater and Step Daughter Norma Otey.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Danny Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Number 8 Cemetery in Pittsburg. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Eastern Star services will be held at 7:00 P.M.
