Lenora Loudene "Dean" Webb-Sinks, 78 passed away at 9:50 P.M., Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at the VA Medical Center in Marion.
She was born June 28, 1925 in Pittsburg to Alpha & Cleon Ruth (Pierson) Burnett. She was indeed a great member of Americas greatest generation. She served her country well during WWII in the WAVES. After the war she married Champ Woodrow Webb and raised a family. Her number one goal in life was to be the best mom she could be, and for over 50 years she met and surpassed her goal.
She was an avid sports fan who hated the Cardinals, loved the Cubs. She worshipped the Redskins and despised the Cowboys. She attended a countless number of her sons baseball, basketball and football games, she was never not there. She also started the movement that brought football to Heath High School (Paducah, Ky.) in 1969.
After Champs death in 1985, she moved back home to Marion, Illinois and in time she married William Sinks, who has since passed away. She was very active in the Marion VFW Post 1301 & American Legion Post 147. She was the Commander of Post 147 for a year. She was a volunteer for color guard for VFW ritual team. She served as a volunteer at VA Medical Center. She enjoyed painting and drawing. Up to her last day she lived her life to the fullest with no regrets, and as great a loss as her passing is to her family it is a much greater loss to society, her optimism and influence will be truly missed.
