Leona A. Thomas

Herrin- Leona Thomas, 93, of Herrin, died at 11:33 PM, Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at Herrin Hospital. Leona was born on August 7, 1910 in Cambria, IL to Omer & Minnie (Payne) Triplett. She married Kenneth Thomas on October 15, 1929 in Jackson, CO. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1985. Mrs. Thomas retired from the US Naval Air Station after 22 years of service. She was of Lutheran Faith. SURVIVORS: Daughter- Marlene Hamilton- Benicia, CA Grandchildren: Shannon Kopplin Mike Thomas Twins- Karen & Kathy Thomas Matthew Thomas Several Great Grandchildren Brother- Thomas Triplett- Herrin Bro & sis in law- Eugene & Lela Triplett- Herrin Bro & sis in law- Robert & Juanita Triplett- Herrin Bro & sis in law- Dennis Ray & Bobbie Triplett- Herrin Sister in law- Fern Triplett- Herrin Many nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; Charles Thomas, Daughter; Mavis Lee Thomas, brothers; Woodrow, Harold & Leonard Triplett, sisters; Halleen Triplett & Pearl Jackson. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 15, 2003 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral home in Herrin. The Revs. Don Colson & Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 Am until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
