Herrin- LeRoy Nick Vincent, age 79, of Herrin, passed away at 1:40am on
Tuesday December 27, 2005 at his residence in Herrin.
LeRoy was born on June 21, 1926 in Lake Arthur, LA to Nickamel and Eloise
(Benoit) Vincent. He married Peggy Sweeney on February 9, 1951 in Lake
Charles, LA. She survives in Herrin.
Mr. Vincent spent most of his adult life in the Sulphur, Lake Charles area.
He was a veteran of World War II and was stationed on the U.S.S. Guadal Canal,
which was the first ship since the 1800s to capture the 505 German Submarine
which is now located at the Chicago Museum. LeRoy retired from Cities Service
Refinery, after thirty five years.
Mr. Vincent was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin
and St Margarets Church in Lake Charles, LA.

His loving wife of 54 years- Peggy Sweeney Vincent- Herrin, IL
1 son- Ronnie Lynn and Kathy Vincent- Nederland, TX
1 daughter- Kayla Vincent Rosetta- Herrin, IL
2 sisters- Laurice Beck- Nederland, TX
Marjorie and Henry Ellender- Sulphur, LA
1 brother- Norbert Vincent- Baton Rouge, LA
3 grandchildren
1 great grandchild
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday December 31, 2005 at 1:00pm at Johnson
Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA with Father Charles McMillin officiating.
Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Sulphur, LA with military rites
performed at the gravesite. Visitation will be held on Friday December 30,
2005 from 2pm until 8pm at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA, with a
rosary service being held at 6:00pm.
