Leslie Jean Norman, 49, of Marion, passed away at 11:15 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Leslie was born on February 29, 1960 in Marion to George & Shelbey (Miner) Norman. She was a retired letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. She was a strong woman who loved the Lord. Everyone knew her because of her beautiful smile and sweet and loving character. Her grandsons were the light of her life. She always said they were worth having children for. She deserved the best but usually got less. She is with her heavenly father now. This is where she always wanted to be; by her Fathers side. Words will never describe how much she will be missed. In her childrens eyes, she lived up to the Proverbs 31 woman. Give her the reward she has earned and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. She was a member of Community of Faith in Marion. Survivors include- Mother- Shelbey Norman of Marion Father- George Norman and wife Shirley of Marion Daughter- Richelle Pentecost and husband Mark of Marion Son- Jessie Goines and companion Whitney Smith of Marion Grandchildren- Konnor Clark & Kaden Pentecost of Marion Ely Goines of Marion Brother- Shawn Norman and wife Lori of Marion Brother- Charles Norman of Marion Sister- Lynn Pritchett & husband Gary of Goreville Paternal grandmother- Genevieve Peugh of Marion Companion- Joseph Abbott of Marion Aunt- Beverly Votaw & husband Bud of California Several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents- Charles & Velda Cleek and her aunt Lynda Hawkins. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m, Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Todd Greiner will officiate. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from 5-9:00 pm, Monday, January 18, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral home/ 800 North Market St./ Marion, IL 62959.
