Lillian Maxine Norman passed away at 6:33 P.M. on Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at the Shawnee Nursing Home. She was the eldest child of James and Alice (McDonald) Ozment, born on Friday, July 13, 1913. She graduated from Johnston City High School, Class of 1932, and began her working career at a local florist in Marion. She married Francis ?Slats? Norman on November 29, 1934. Her working career continued as night manager of Speed?s Bus Stop. She attended Southern Illinois University School of Nursing and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse, working at the Marion Memorial Hospital until an automobile accident in 1973 ended her working career. She passed her time knitting Afghans, sweaters and house shoes for her family and friends.
Lillian was a member of the order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron for several years. She was a member of the First Church of God serving many years as Youth Director and Adult Sunday school teacher. She was known for her fund raising ability, making fried pies for the youth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James Ozment and Harold ?Pug? Ozment, and her husband, ?Slats? Norman on January 28, 1961.

Grandchildren: Pamela Joann Stewart, Myra LuAnn Cooper, Rhonda Kay Stewart, Earnest Bradford Stewart, Brain Kent Norman, Karen Renee Klatt, Richard Alan Sanders, Mark Duane Sanders, Donald Gene Sanders, and Seven great grandchildren.
Brother, Warren Ozment, Georgetown, TX, Sisters, Virginia Kofron, St. Louis, MO, Genevieve McMillian, Largo, FL, and Billie Dean Lear of Marion.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion, IL with the Rev. Paul Ramsey and Rev. Alan Ozment officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, October 4, at the Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 8:00 P.M. Friday evening. Memorials may be made to First Church of God Youth Fund or Hospice of Southern Illinois and envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
