Lilly M. Rice

Lilly M. Rice, 96, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 5:00 P.M. at Shawnee Christian Care Center. Lilly was born September 8, 1912 in Poordo the daughter of Sam & Frances (Dunaway) Thompson. She married William Robert Rice and he preceded her in death on June 4, 1998. Lilly was a member of Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church. She worked as a cook for the Dairy Queen in Marion for over 30 years. She is survived by; Daughter Norma Jean Stilley Bagwell of Freeman Spur Daughter Wendy Washer of Marion Six Grandchildren Sixteen Great Grandchildren Several Great Great Grandchildren Longtime companion Barney Barnwell Preceded by her Parents, Husband, Son, Ray Dean Rice and Two Sisters. Funeral services will be Friday, May 1, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Kevin McNeely officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Poordo. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
