Linda Lou McGuire

Herrin- Linda Lou McGuire, 61, of Herrin, passed away at 8:50 AM, Sunday, February 22, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. Linda was born on June 9, 1953 in Herrin to Ralph Kenneth and Blanche “Brownie” (Brown) Eckols. She was protestant faith. She received a degree in respiratory therapy and worked at Marion Memorial Hospital and Memorial Hospital of Carbondale before beginning a 28 year career at the Marion VA Medical Center. She retired on her birthday last year. In her spare time she enjoyed playing and watching tennis. She most enjoyed Andre Agassi and Roger Federer. She also enjoyed time spent working in her yard and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include- Sister- Sue Oakley of Herrin Sister- Rosie Eckols of Herrin Brother- Michael Eckols of Herrin Special Nephews: Mike Cain of Herrin Jeff Cain of Herrin Chris Eckols and wife Emily of Pocahontas, IL Special Great Nephews: Zach Eckols of Pocahontas Gabe Cain of Herrin River Cain of Bedford, TX Austin Waldron of Cambria Special Great nieces: Amber Hunsell of Pocahontas Jourdyn Cain of Herrin Sydney Cain of Bedford, TX Special great great nephew- Kaden Waldron of Cambria Best friend of 38 years- Gerri O’Brien of Herrin Caregiver- Emily Eckols Special dog- “Angel” She was preceded in death by her parents, brother- Kenneth Eckols and sister Patti Eckols and a special nephew- Jason Cain. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Herrin City Cemetery. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the graveside. Funeral arrangements were made at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested to the family to off set medical expenses and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13^th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
