Lois Ruth Bell

Lois R. Bell, age 88, of Marion, Illinois,  passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Lois was born June 28, 1934 in Marion, Illinois, a daughter of Jewell J. and Verna M. (Sutton)  Clark.   Lois grew up in Marion, IL and graduated Marion High School in 1952.  She married Harold W. Bell on July 5, 1952.  She worked at SIU in the Business Office and in 1965 she started working for Bob Stotlar Building Center.  She worked as a bookkeeper for 49 years with Bob Stotlar and retired.   She enjoyed baking, crocheting, puzzles and was an avid reader.  She loved her family and her church family at Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort, IL, where she had formerly been a Sunday School Teacher.   

She is survived by her husband Harold W. Bell of Marion, IL; two children, Beverly K. (Randy) Reed of Marion, IL and Ray C. (Cynthia) Bell of Marion, IL; three grandchildren, Bradley C. (Jennifer) Reed, Carey J. (Ryan) Gerber, and Anthony C. (Jennifer) Bell; six great-grandchildren, Jacob Mosser, Sarah Gerber, Noah Reed, Caden Reed, Breckin Gerber, and Brynley Gerber; and one sister-in-law, Helen Clark of Marion, IL.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Jewell J. and Verna M. Clark; three brothers, William Clark; brother and sister-in-law, Jack (Bessie) Clark, brother and sister-in-law Robert (Herma) Clark, infant brother Ray Clark and sister and brother-in-law Louise (Ralph) Clark

Visitation will be Thursday, December 22nd, 2022 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, 1:00 PM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Brett Beasley officiating.  Private burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Second Baptist Church West Frankfort, IL. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.
