Marion- Lois June Winesburg Langan, beloved wife of Paul Langan, passed away at 10:53pm Friday, August 24, 2012 at the age of 83. Lois was born in Springfield, Illinois on June 29, 1929, the daughter of Walter and Mattie (Patheal) Winesburg.
Lois had three ministries: her family, her local church and as a volunteer to seniors. She in a sense was a guest artist for 78 of her 83 years: as an organist, pianist, and choir director. During that time she raised a family, taught music in the public schools, and for some 20 years directed the senior band to minister in churches, nursing homes, and to civic groups. She played for the Marion Rotary Club for many years. In addition, she was Gideon Auxillary officer for over ten years.
She lived life fully and was always ready to entertain family and friends. She enjoyed celebrating with her extended family, having recently danced with her husband of 60 years at her great nephews wedding.
She is survived by her husband- Paul Langan of Marion
Children- Deborah Kaye Hays (Larry) of Elk Grove Village, IL
Pamela Jo Ladnier (Ron) of Broken Arrow, OK
Grandchildren- Lauren, Marie, and David
Her children and grandchildren are grateful for her love, devotion, and commitment to her God, husband and family. She was also a loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and great aunt.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Warder Street Baptist Church in Marion. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with memorial arrangements.
