Colp- LOLA M. (COX) CALIPER, 93 years of age, wife of the former Mayor of Colp and owner of Caliper Plumbing and Heating, died at 4:20am on Thursday, April 17, 2008 peacefully in her home.
Lola was born September 14, 1914 in Williamson County, the daughter of Miles and Lucinda (Baker) Cox. She married Frank Caliper on June 16, 1935 in Herrin. They shared fifty two years of marriage until his passing on March 28, 1987.
Mrs. Caliper was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. She was a homemaker.

Son and Daughter-in-Law- Thomas E. and Debbie Caliper of Marion, IL
Daughter and Son-in-Law- Rosalie and Leonard Locey of Florida
Eight Grandchildren- Crystal, James, Tommy Dean and Kevan Caliper
Brenda Pedigo, Cathy Fregeau, Karen Walk and Leonard Locey, Jr.
Nineteen Great Grandchildren
Five Great Great Grandchildren
Lola was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to all Lolas caregivers. She had a special fondness for all of her caregivers.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Friday, April 18, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
