Lola Mae McKenzie

HERRIN- Lola Mae Babe McKenzie, 84, formerly of Herrin, died at 5:14 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, in Castle Rock Care Center in Castle Rock, CO. Lola Mae was born on February 12, 1918 in Herrin to Ed & Ethel Mae (Arnold) Ridgway. She married Walter Ellis McKenzie on August 6, 1936 in Shawneetown, IL. He preceded her in death on January 9, 1975. Mrs. McKenzie was a greenhouse owner/operator. She was a longtime member of the Herrin First United Methodist Church and the Herrin Garden Club. SURVIVORS: Son & dtr in law- Ellis & Ginger McKenzie- Buena Park, CA Dtr & son in law- Brenda & Jerry Lockamy- Larkspur, CO Eight Grandchildren Six Great Grandchildren Sister- Opal Davis- Marion Sister- Wanda Peterson- Goodyear, AZ Sister- Ruth Smith- Elkhart, IN Sister- Nadine Shadowens- Elkville, IL Brother- Edward Ridgway- Florida Brother- Wallace Ridgway- New Lennox, IL Brother- Ralph Ridgway Brother- Fred Ridgway- Long Mont, CO Brother- Bill Ridgway- Herrin Brother- John Ridgway- Herrin She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son; Larry Allen McKenzie. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Lee Lovett will officiate and Dorothy Mercer will offer the eulogy. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
