Lora E. Groves

Marion- Lora E. Groves, 72, of Marion, died at 2:48 PM, Friday, July 25, 2003 at Fountain Nursing Home in Marion. Mrs. Groves was born on August 4, 1930 in Metropolis to John L. & Hattie (Johnson) McDaniel. She married Morris Groves on August 4, 1946 in Metropolis. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1991. She worked as Nurses Aide for the former Mattilnglys Nursing Home in Energy and the Four Seasons in Elgin. She was of Pentecost Faith. SURVIVORS: Son- Terry Groves- Marion Son- Morris Groves- McKenzie, TN Son- Billy Ray Groves- Lake of Egypt, IL Son- Everett Ray Groves- Cincinnati, OH Son- Raymond Groves- Creal Springs Daughter- Dinah Dollar- Marion Daughter- Diana Lee Groves- Phoenix, AZ Daughter- Judy Krasselt- Marion Daughter- Jane Seals- McCombs, IL Daughter- Irene Anderson- Marion Twenty Nine Grandchildren Eighteen great-grandchildren Several nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son; John Logan Groves, two half brothers; David & Bill McDaniel, and one half sister; Nadine Peterson, and two grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral home in Marion. Rev. Jerry Lingle will officiate. Burial will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 5-9:00 PM, Monday, July 27, 2003 at the funeral home.
