Lorene B. Darnell

Crab Orchard Lorene Darnell, 87 of Peoria, formerly of Crab Orchard passed away Thursday, May 13, 2004 at 3:10 A.M. in the OSF St. Clare Nursing Care Center in Peoria Heights. Lorene was born February 23, 1917 to Ava and Amanda (Norman) Beasley in Williamson County. She married Charles E. Darnell on August 30, 1935 in Creal Springs and he preceded her in death on September 17, 1988. Lorene operated Darnells Restaurant in Crab Orchard from 1950 1972. She was a member of Center Baptist Church and Dayton Avenue Baptist in Peoria Heights; she was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include: Daughter Charlene Handkins of Marion, Three Granddaughters: Cindy Scovil and husband Denny Pemberton of Mossville, IL, Cheryl White and husband Don of Spring Bay, IL, Carla Ginn and husband Steve of Marion, Six Great Grandchildren, Brother Edward Beasley of Sun City West, AZ. Preceded by Parents, Husband, Brother Ray Lowell Beasley and Two Sisters Fern Edwards and Jeanette Hill. Funeral services will be Monday, May 17, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Danny Gray officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Services will be provided by the Eastern Star Rites at 7 P.M. .
