Creal Springs Lory W. Barnett, 81, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 1:45 P.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends. Lory was born May 3, 1929 the son of Delbert H. & Mary Hollice (Graves) Barnett. He married Doris June Harris on December 25, 1951 at Grange Hall and together they have been blessed with over 58 years of marriage. He proudly answered the call to serve his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Grange Hall Baptist Church and has served as a Deacon for over 30 years. Lory was a mechanical engineer retiring from Olin Matheson. In addition to his wife he is survived by; Son Kenneth Barnett and wife Terry of Marion Daughters; Beverly Gossage and husband Michael of Marion Donna Barnett and her best friend Jim Boles of Creal Springs Grandchildren; Kristina Cox and husband Charlie Teresa Snyder and husband Mark Melissa Phillips and husband Lonnie Justin Gossage Joshua Gossage Great Grandchildren; Lory Cox, Trevor and Gavin Snyder, James Smiley, Mason Phillips Brother Donnie Barnett of Marion Sister-in-law Violet Chambers of Carterville Several nieces, nephews and cousins Longtime neighbors Robert Lee & Barbara Robertson, since 1955 Preceded by his Parents, Granddaughter Rebecca Barnett and Brother Delbert Lee Barnett. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 12 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. John Montgomery and Rev. Kevin McNeely officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Military rites will be presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Flag Detail Unit. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
