Louann (Bruce) Sims, 89, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 7:30 am at her home lovingly surrounded by her family.
Louann was born May 14, 1930 in Effingham the daughter of Frank and Ferne (Loye) Bruce. She married Carlyle Ray Sims on February 3, 1951 in Marion and together they shared over 67 years of marriage. Carlyle preceded her in death on April 12, 2018. Louann and Carlyle had one son, Darrell Bruce Sims, who preceded them in death in 1988.
She graduated high school in 1948, in her youth she loved riding and showing horses. For over 25 years Louann was the Librarian at Marion High School. Her memberships included the First Christian Church of Marion, Delta Theta Tau and the Clio Club. Louann and Carlyle were avid supporters of Purdue University and the proud founders of the Darrell B. Sims Cancer Center at Purdue University. She helped to organize the first female glee club scholarship, she also served as a member of the Presidents Council and the John Purdue Club .
Louann’s family and friends surviving are left with the fondest memories of this kind and warm aunt, friend and educator.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Son – Darrell Bruce Sims, Brother - Ben Bruce, Sister - Lorelei Bujdoso and her husband Ted, Nephew – William Hardy and Niece – Ann Rushing.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Father Richard Mohr officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Friday, September 27, 2018 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
