Marion Lowell E. Jeter, 66, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 8:15 A.M. at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
Lowell was born January 20, 1943 in Williamson County the son of Lowell Wilson & Eva (Evans) Jeter. He married Linda Anderson on September 11, 1970 in Marion and together they have shared over 38 years of marriage.
Mr Jeter spent 38 years as an 8th grade school teacher at Creal Springs Elementary School. He enjoyed each and every class. He spent most of those years coaching basketball, track, cross country and later volleyball. He had fond memories of the end of the year class trips; especially to the Smoky Mountains. He is well known for his love of running. He participated in and helped organize many 3K and 5K races, plus ran in the River to River Relay several times. He also ran in several marathons including Flora, Dallas, and Boston.
He had a great love for his God, family and church, which helped carry him through a long illness.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor April Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 8 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
