Energy- Lucille Thornton, 88, of Energy, died at 11:35 PM, Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Parkway Manor in Marion. Lucille was born on May 26, 1916 in Marion to Eldon P. & Lydia Candis (Norman) Odum. She married John Thornton on April 18, 1951 in Arkansas. He survives of Energy. Mrs. Thornton, along with her husband, formerly owned and operated Thorntons Market in Herrin prior to their retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Energy. SURVIVORS: Husband- John Thornton- Energy Son & dau in law- Johnie L. & Marty Thornton- Herrin Daughter & son in law- Brenda & Bob Stricklin- Marion Son & dau in law- Russell & Joyce Watson- Herrin Eight Grandchildren: Russell & Jennifer Watson, Jr.- Herrin Steve & Kathy Watson- Herrin Sheree Watson- Indiana Debra & Steve Dingrando- Marion John Allen & Denise Murry, Jr.-Energy Bryan & Amy Thornton- Columbus, OH Chris Thornton- Herrin Angela Thornton- Herrin Ten Great Grandchildren Niece- Leana Odum- Marion Nephew- Raymond McCormick- Marion Her parents, first husband; Russell Watson, infant daughter; Delores Mae, four sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Entombment will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
