Lucinda M. Bondurant

Herrin- Lucinda M. Granny Bondurant, 86, of Herrin, passed away at 2:15 AM, Sunday, September 16, 2006 at her home. Lucinda was born on December 30, 1919 in Benton, IL to Ezra & Emma (Harrison) Downen. After growing up in Centralia, she married Clair Owen on July 3, 1943 in Bingham City, UT. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1967. She later married Louis Bondurant on July 23, 1971 in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1981. She retired from Miss Elaines Dress Factory in 1981. Afterwards she volunteered her time at the Landmark Christian Academy in Anna. Mrs. Bondurant was Apostolic and attended Summers Community Church in Thompsonville. She taught Sunday school and was an active volunteer at area food pantries and the Ladies Auxiliary at the Anna Pentecostal Church. She helped provide needy families with food and clothes for Christmas. SURVIVORS: Daughter- Lorna Bryant- Carterville Son- Robert Owen- Herrin Step Son- Marvin Owen- N. Platte, NE Grandchild- Pastor Virgil Diel, Jr. & wife Tonya- West Frankfort Grandchild- Vandy Diel- Paducah, KY Grandchild- Tammy (Bryant) Sheffer & husband Patrick- Anna Grandchild- Jason Bryant & wife Heidie- Murphysboro, IL Seven Great Grandchildren Brother & sister in law- Daniel & Betty Downen- Centralia Many nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sister; Pauline Owens and one brother; Wilbert Downen. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Virgil Diel, Jr. will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Centralia at a later date. Visitation will be from 5:00 until time of service, Tuesday, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
