ENERGY-Lula Mae Leonard, 85, passed away at 8:30 P.M., Wednesday, October 8, at Cardinal Health Care in Energy.
Lula Mae was born December 3, 1917 to Harvey Shorty and Minnie (Mitchell) Eaton in Williamson County. She married Cecil Cooney Leonard who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Johnston City. During her lifetime she was active in many roles in the community including: Democratic precinct committeeman; a leader with the Girl Scouts of America for over 8 years; PTA president of JCTHS in Johnston City; and a leader in the founding of Johnston Citys Teen Town.
She worked at the Marion Department of Public until moving to Riverdale, Illinois in 1969, where she was office manager for Shelter Insurance in downtown Chicago. When she later returned to Southern Illinois, she was employed by Roberts Insurance Agency in Marion until her retirement.
She may be gone from this world, but she is not gone from the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Marion Goose Eaton of Portage, IN.
Two Sisters: Mildred Tiny Eaton of Hammond, IN.
Rebecca Becky Stocks, formerly of Johnston City, now residing in Florida
Three Grandchildren
Ten Great Grandchildren
Two Great Grandchildren
Numerous nieces and nephews, and their families
She was preceded by her parents, husband, brother, William, and a granddaughter, Cindy Smith.
Members of her family will hold a private graveside service at a later date.
Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
