Lyda V. Webb

DuQuoin- Lyda V. Webb, 83, of DuQuoin, passed away at 11:09 PM, Thursday, August 1, 2002 at Fairview Nursing Home in DuQuoin. Lyda was born on July 30, 1919 in Thompsonville, IL to William Lon & Minnie Mae (Martin) Duke. She married Leslie M. Webb on November 2, 1940 in Paducah, KY. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1987. Mrs. Webb was of Pentecost faith. She was a member of and taught the Beginners Sunday School Class at Royalton Apostolic Church. When she was able Lyda enjoyed sewing, cooking (she once sold enough pies to purchase a new vacuum for the church), talking, and watching television. SURVIVORS: Son & dtr in law- Jerry Lee & Billie Webb, Sr.- Sesser Dtr & son in law- Judith Mae & Bob Ballard- Bush Six Grandchildren Nine Great Grandchildren Brother- Delmar Duke- Mendota, IL Brother- Martin Duke- Augusta, MI Her parents, husband, daughter; Betty Mayers, brothers; Jack and Troy Duke, two sisters; Lillian Vantrease and Hazel Brown, and one stillborn brother preceded her in death. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 4, 2002 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Donald Maas will officiate. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery.
